    Hello Eat It Team,

New developments are in the works for your local Cheddar’s Casual Café, now Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen. The name change is part of Cheddar’s campaign to highlight its timeless, scratch cooking practices and handmade dishes, important elements of the 35 year-old brand.

To celebrate, Cheddar’s is inviting local residents to submit their best homemade side dish recipes for a chance to win a $250 Cheddar’s gift card and to have their recipe added to the Fayetteville menu for a limited time. We’d love to help out with a story or coordinate an interview on the contest and have included more details in the press release below.

Could we assist with a story on this unique local opportunity?

Top-rated dining chain unveils new logo, launches recipe contest

Fayetteville, N.C. (March 18, 2015) – To celebrate its timeless, scratch-cooking approach and handmade dishes, Cheddar’s in Fayetteville at 225 N. McPherson Church Road is now Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen. The new name is part of the company’s campaign to highlight its scratch kitchen, an important element of the 35-year-old brand. A recipe contest will encourage local guests to submit their best homemade side dish recipes for a chance to be added to the Fayetteville menu.

“Cheddar’s has been in Fayetteville since 2011, and many of our guests here certainly have their longtime favorites,” said Cheddar’s Vice President of Culinary R&D Robert Pesch. “We’ve discovered that our guests know they love Cheddar’s, but sometimes they can’t put their finger on what makes the Cheddar’s experience so special. For us, it’s always started with the food — handmade, high-quality dishes prepared from scratch.”

Cheddar’s serves food made from scratch using hand-selected ingredients carefully assembled by a team of cooks three times the size of the average restaurant team and in a kitchen twice the size of the average restaurant kitchen.

Inside the restaurant, diners will receive personalized recommendation cards from their servers and leave with take-home scratch recipes courtesy of Cheddar’s culinary team. Guests will also be treated to a time-lapse video showing the inner workings of the Cheddar’s kitchen and the handmade care applied to the preparation of many different menu items. The restaurant exterior features the new Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen signage. The new logo and additional elements highlight the scratch standard for Fayetteville guests and have been designed to create authentic guest experiences and relationships.

In addition, the company recently launched a recipe contest on March 12 to identify one local side dish to be featured for six weeks on the Fayetteville menu. Recipe entries are due by April 23 and may be submitted in-restaurant or via email to The winner will receive a $250 Cheddar’s gift card and inclusion on the local menu.

“Cheddar’s has always taken pride in serving the freshest dishes for the best value to our guests, and now guests have the opportunity to join the flavor movement with their submissions,” said Cheddar’s General Manager Jessica Wren. “Cheddar’s is excited to review all of the great recipes Fayetteville will produce.”
